Chickspeare is proud to present leading Charlotte actors in a reading of John Patrick Shanley's Off-Broadway play Savage in Limbo, staged by Margie Anich, on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 11 & 12, 2001 at Garbo's, 403 West Summit Avenue (corner of Mint & Summit, off Morehead Ave.) The reading starts at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 at the door. Beverages are available for purchase. The cast includes: Margie Anich, Meredith McBride, Alan McClintock, Tim Ross, Tracy Curtis, and Laura Richard.

Come enjoy a relaxed and entertaining evening among friends and aficionados of terrific theater. An arresting and brilliantly inventive play, Savage in Limbo moves from wry comedy to near tragedy as it explores the hopes and dreams of a group of rootless young 'losers' who congregate in an anonymous Bronx bar, hoping to find respite from the drabness of their lives. "Although filled with comic lines, Savage in Limbo has the serious intent of laying bare the unstated dreams and thwarted possibilities of its artfully drawn denizens," said Drama-Logue. Shanley, the author of Moonstruck and Psychopathia Sexulais, has written a searing, existential and dramatically compelling work about our search for meaning in an often meaningless world.
